2012 Fundraiser: Geeaky Freaky Triathlon!

Jane Godsland did her first triathlon for the MHMT on 01 July!

Jane met Mim when they did a fundraiser together for Myeloma UK in 2004. Jane says: "For many years I have wanted to raise money for Mim's memorial fund as a means of saying thank you for the love and support she showed me, a virtual stranger, eight years ago. Finally, I have taken the plunge. I wanted to set myself a really HUGE challenge to give people good reason to sponsor me." Read more about the Geeaky Freaky Triathlon.

The day before the event, Jane updated her Facebook page: "Final training session done! In last 12 weeks I have done 24 bike rides, 23 swims and 29 runs :-0. Any failure on Sunday won't be through a lack of training! Thanks again everyone for all your support x"

After the triathlon, Jane wrote: "I was absolutely thrilled to be able to finally put my money where my mouth is and raise some cash and awareness for the MHMT! The 12-week training programme was really tough, but memories of Mim and the support I received from the MHMT really kept me motivated and I'm delighted to think that the end result will be a better quality of life for some disadvantaged children. The triathlon itself was brilliant - I may well have caught the bug!"

Will YOU support the MHMT in 2012?

The Thames Path Challenge is on 29 / 30 September. Enter as a team or individual and choose the 50km or 100km challenge. A well-organised event with plenty of support for entrants. Closing date for registration is 31 July.

If you're up for something even more ambitious and exotic, you could choose from the global treks, bikes and climbs run by Charity Challenge, like Kate Green did when she walked the Great Wall of China for the MHMT in 2009.

OR why not just do what Sam Rubinstein did in 2011 - he challenged himself to a 10 mile cycle ride (one mile for each year of his age!) and organised the whole thing himself, including a JustGiving page - with a little help from his mum and dad!

Visit our Donate page for more ideas - THANK YOU!

Money raised will go towards our current target of £50,000 to fund an MHCECC consultant to receive advanced training abroad for one year.

THANK YOU Jane for setting yourself this HUGE challenge for the MHMT!
