MHMT Benefit Fair at Copthall School

On Monday 28 June 2010 Copthall School held an Enterprise Fair for the benefit of the MHMT. The event ran from 2:30pm to 4:30pm and it was open to the community.

Every class in the school came up with its own product, service or activity around an Indian theme to reflect the locality of the Miriam Hyman Children's Eye Care Centre. Two MHMT Trustees attended and held a stall of their own, including copies of Mimento: Paintings & Pastels by Miriam Hyman.

The total raised was £825, which far exceeded expectations!

Miriam was a Copthall pupil. The school and the MHMT are now collaborating to create an electronic Resource on themes of Citizenship and social cohesion through Miriam's story. Miriam's sister, Esther, recently made presentations about the MHMT to the whole school, and this was the pupils' first chance to get involved.

In 2011 Copthall raised just over £700. This has been added to the Spectacle Fund. The cost of a new pair of glasses at LVPEI has been reduced to £2 per pair!

THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to this school-wide effort!
