Miriam made two four-week family trips to India in her mid and late teens. She enjoyed north India, and a little of the western coast and south India. After the first few days she said, "I don't know where to focus my eyes!"
The touring was fascinating, but spending time in Kolkata in the company of her great aunt, in what used to be the home of her great grandparents, was truly gratifying. She felt an immediate bond with the people and the country, and when we went into partnership with L V Prasad Eye Institute to create a memorial to Miriam in India, it felt right.
